Governance
Over the last few years, the Guild has revised its By-Laws a few times to match the evolving nature of the organization.
In March 2025, the Guild restructured its membership categories to only include "Individual" and "Organizational" membership. Each Individual and Organizational member will be considered a "Full Member" and have equal voting rights. The Guild's fiscal year was also updated from Jan 1 - Dec 31 to Jul 1 - Jun 30 to better align with the majority of our membership.
During the December 2023 Annual Meeting, Guild Membership voted to change the minimum number of trustees on the board from 19 to 11, and the maximum number from 45 to 27 to create a smaller and stronger working board.
At the November 2020 Annual Meeting, Guild Membership voted to add the Guild's Racial Equity Committee, along with its charge, to the list of the Guild's Committees of the Board. At the Guild Board's November 2020 meeting, the Board voted to change officer terms.
In November 2019, Guild Membership voted to ratify significant revisions to the By-Laws, primarily to keep up with New York State non-profit law:
