The Gadsden Community School for the Arts is operated as a division of the Gadsden Cultural Arts Foundation and serves some 500 students in private and group classes taught, in some cases, by members of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. In addition, GCSA offers string instruction to over 250 students in selected public schools in two districts through a partnership with the Etowah Youth Orchestras. The GCSA's Downtown Dance Conservatory offers quality classical and contemporary dance education for the primary to pre-professional level dancer. The Conservatory is in association with the Royal Academy of Dance and the director is certified through RAC. The GCSA's Fund for Access allows for need and merit-based scholarships for deserving students.
