About Our Organization

The Washington Conservatory of Music is a nationally accredited community music school serving students of all ages through private lessons, group classes, ensembles, and summer camps.  WCM serves the Washington DC Metro area and is located within the vibrant arts community of Glen Echo Park, in Glen Echo, Maryland in cooperation with Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture. Additionally, WCM provides free early childhood music classes to underserved children from immigrant and low-income families in the communities where they live and for over twenty years WCM has provided a non-ticketed professional concert series.

 

 

Job Summary

 

The Registrar/Program Assistant schedules private lessons and is the first and main phone contact with students, the public, and faculty, and as such must be personable, outgoing, efficient, detail-oriented, and able to speak well about the value of studying music and about the specific classes and lessons at WCM.  They are responsible for database entry, reports, and general office management. The Registrar/Program Assistant is part of a full-time 3-person team, including the Director and Assistant Director. 

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate student placement for private lessons 
  2. Provide informed professional information on the phone and in person. 
  3. Track group class enrollment and assist in Glen Echo Park catalog class entries 
  4. Main Database including entry and tracking of inquiries, student registrations, and donations.
  5. Generate regular database reports
  6. Create student invoices and donation thank you letters from the database
  7. Create and maintain general office operations, calendars, and schedules
  8. Update class information and graphic content on the website
  9. Assist Executive Director and/or Assistant Director as needed 
  10. Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications & Requirements

 

  1. Minimum B.A. degree - degree in music strongly preferred
  2. Five years related experience
  3. Must be personable, outgoing, efficient, detail-oriented, and able to speak well about the value of studying music and about the specific classes and lessons at WCM. 
  4. Significant organizational, time-management, and computer skills
  5. Database experience required
  6. Website experience strongly preferred
  7. Graphics and social media experience preferred 
  8. Must be able to occasionally lift 40 lbs 

Additional Details

Job begins February 1 and is open until filled.

Onsite position. Office hours: 10 am – 6 pm, M-F. 

Comp time for occasional weekend and evening responsibilities.

January job training offered if the candidate is available
