Job Summary

DreamYard is looking for a dynamic and experienced Manager of Government Funding and Gift Processing to join our team. This role is a key member of DreamYard’s (DY’s) Development Department and will manage two critical areas:  The application and renewal of all Government Contracts and Grants as well as processing and maintaining records on all gifts, pledges, and donor-related transactions.

 

This position will also bolster the government grants portfolio by maintaining and further building government support as well as developing government grant proposals and contracts with city, state, and federal agencies to raise 25% of DY’s 7.5 million dollar budget. In addition, this position ensures all donations made to DY are promptly and accurately entered, reconciled with the Finance department, and acknowledged.

This is a full-time hybrid position that works on the Development team and reports to the Director of Development.

Responsibilities

Government Funding

  • Learn and maintain a deep working knowledge of DreamYard’s mission, core values, programs, and strategic goals.

  • Stay informed about changes in the local, state, and federal government funding landscape to identify opportunities for new and increased support.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Development, programs, Finance teams, and external partners to draft proposals, applications, and reports to government agencies.

  • Ensure timely completion of all government grants and contract applications, proposals, and reports.

  • Maintain an active profile for DY on all city, state, and federal government portals.

  • Manage and ensure all government documents such as insurance certificates, financial information, etc. are active and up to date.

  • Coordinate outreach and engagement with local and state elected officials.

 

Gift Processing

  • Ensure the accurate entry, timely processing, and acknowledgment of all gifts/contributed revenue according to Finance and Development policies.

  • Be the point person for all gifts made by check which includes logging the information on the Finance check log, scanning a copy of the check and award letter (if provided), and sharing it with the Finance and development teams.

  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of all donor records.

  • Communicate the receipt of major donations to the appropriate Development staff member.

  • Update biographical information in constituent records to have complete and accurate constituent records.

  • Develop ideas and advise on improvements in gift management, reporting, usage etc.

  • Work closely with the Finance Department regarding weekly, monthly, and quarterly revenue reconciliation.

  • Any other duties as assigned by management

Job Qualifications & Requirements

  • Candidate must have at minimum an Associate Degree.

  • 2-3 years experience in database management, i.e., Raiser’s Edge, SalesForce and/LGL

  • 2-3 years experience managing city, state, and/or federal government contracts, which include any or all of the following: 

    • the Department of Youth and Community Development’s (DYCD) - SYEP, COMPASS, SONYC, & WLG contracts

    •  the Office of Children and Family Service's - Advantage contract

    • Empire State Afterschool Programs

    • the Department of Education’s MTAC contract

    •  the NY State Council on the Arts grant

    • the Department of Cultural Affairs - CDF and CASA grants

    • City and State discretionary funding

    • National Endowment of the Arts

  • Experience using government portals such as PASSPort, Vendrep, OCFS Contract Management System, GrantsGateway, and SAM

  • Strong project management and implementation skills

  • Organization, with an exceptional attention to detail

  • Strong writing skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to gracefully manage tight timelines in a fast-paced working environment and multiple projects concurrently

  • The ability to collaborate effectively with team members

Additional Details

The Manager of Government Funding and Gift Processing is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $65,000-$70,000 commensurate with experience. DreamYard offers an excellent benefits package, and generous paid time off.
