Job Summary

Network for New Music seeks a new dynamic leader for the position of Executive Director to steer the leading new music organization in the Philadelphia region. 

The ideal candidate will be passionate about contemporary music and its importance to the community. Network seeks a strong advocate and leader with excellent verbal and written communication skills to work alongside our energetic and motivated staff and board, and maintain positive working relationships with volunteers, donors, vendors, musicians, and community leaders.

Network is led by Artistic Director, Thomas Schuttenhelm; its Board Chair and 12-member Board of Directors; and its Executive Director, who are assisted by a part-time Media, Marketing Concert Production Associate (MMCPA).  Concert musicians are drawn from a roster of outstanding musicians, including members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and other prominent music organizations.  All staff positions are currently part-time and operate interactively and remotely. 

Responsibilities

The Executive Director is charged with: 

  • Realizing the musical vision and annual programming planned by the Artistic Director, including educational activities 
  • Managing logistics of program operations including preparing and maintaining budgets
  • Managing and tracking Network’s finances and funding 
  • Leading role in all components of Network’s fundraising efforts (annual fundraising appeal, grant preparation and grants management) as part of a team with the Board of Directors
  • Marketing and audience development
  • Maintaining excellent relationships with Network’s musicians and constituents
  • Helping to represent Network to the community and field at large
  • Implementing and monitoring Network’s new strategic plan

The Executive Director works with several board committees and reports to the Board Chair.

Job Qualifications & Requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and expertise in the following areas:

  • Practicing musician with broad knowledge of new music scene, both locally and nationally
  • Ability to project confidence and enthusiasm about Network to donors, funders, media, musicians and other interested parties
  • Organized, efficient and a desire for collaboration
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing and oral
  • Social media and marketing expertise
  • Development and fundraising experience; proven success with writing grant applications; knowledge of DonorPerfect database a plus
  • Financial management experience; knowledge of Quickbooks a plus

Additional Details

Compensation.  This position is currently budgeted for 30 hours/week for annual salary range of $38,250--$40,125 based on 50 weeks/year.
