About Our Organization

Community Music School Overview:

For more than 25 years Community Music School (CMS)  has been providing access to high quality music instruction for students in Wake County ages 7-18 who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford it. All of our students qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch through Wake County Public Schools and we charge $1 per music lesson, or $32 for the school year, and we provide all of the instruments. Fundraising makes that possible. Our financial model operates on donations from individuals and through grants. That model made it possible for us to continue music instruction even during the pandemic, and we have now resumed in-person after-school instruction at Longleaf School of the Arts in Raleigh, with hybrid virtual instruction as needed.

We want people of all backgrounds to see themselves represented and included at Community Music School, so we actively seek to diversify our team and bring more voices to the table. All applicants are welcome.
