Job Summary

 

The Penland Annual Giving Coordinator is part of the development and communications departmental team at Penland. This position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive plan and calendar that builds annual giving through the use of diversified tools, including mail, digital, social, events, and personal solicitations.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements ongoing appeals to bring back lapsed donors and attract new donors for the annual fund.

  • Implements the calendar of renewals and upgrade requests for annual donors at levels up to $1,000.

  • Assists the director of development in identifying potential donors for Lucy Morgan leadership-level giving ($1,000 and up).

  • Coordinates solicitations with the auction team to develop increased annual giving from past and current auction participants.

  • Works with the data and development coordinator to research and analyze Penland constituency groups to identify the best prospects for annual giving.

  • In collaboration with the digital media editor, leads Penland’s 24-hour online Giving Day fundraiser.

  • Implements a year-round stewardship program that engages Penland’s annual donors.

  • Works with the communications team to develop effective annual giving messaging.

  • Develops metrics for annual giving performance (such as progress toward goal, increased giving/donor upgrades, new dollars, new donors, donor retention).

  • Prepares monthly tracking reports using annual giving metrics.

  • Implements or assists with other projects as assigned by the director of development.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications & Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree and/or 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, membership, or sales/marketing preferred.

  • Effective writing skills, including the ability to write annual fund letters, digital appeals, and stewardship materials.

  • Good organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of the team.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with Penland’s donors and constituents at all levels.

  • Experienced with the use of fundraising relationship management systems (or the equivalent) and willingness to learn new technology skills needed to implement a successful annual giving program.  Experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT a plus.

  • Must have current COVID vaccination and boosters or a Penland-approved exemption.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and work at a computer. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, touch objects, tools, or controls and talk fluently and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and to walk in areas of the campus with uneven terrain. The employee must occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Compensation

This is a full-time, year-round, benefits-eligible position.

 

Compensation discussions are a part of the interviewing process, but the starting range for this position is $40,580 - $47,756. Employees at Penland enjoy competitive pay, attractive benefits, and a lively, creative work environment.
