April 6–April 7, 2020: In-Person Retreat & Action Planning (Phoenix, AZ)
Facilitated by CYD National Coordinator, Ashley Hare, this two-day retreat will provide an opportunity for the primary youth and adult representatives of each network to build relationships and begin to create or expand a shared vision and goals for local network development that align with Blueprint goals and CYD core values. Travel reimbursements will be provided for the two representatives of each network (1 youth and 1 adult) to attend (up to $750 reimbursed per person).
March–October, 2020: Local convenings, professional development, and technical assistance
Monthly Technical Assistance Video Chats: Primary participants of each network are expected to attend monthly, video chats facilitated by CYD National Coordinator and designed to provide opportunities for ongoing technical assistance and networking to help your network achieve its goals. These video chats will be scheduled at a time that is mutually convenient and enables the youth representatives to participate.
Professional Development Training for Network: The CYD Partnership will provide each network up to $2,500 to hire a speaker/facilitator to design and lead a professional development training opportunity that aligns with its network development goals. The CYD Partnership will also reimburse the trainer’s travel expenses up to $865.
Local Convenings: As part of their participation in this project, primary participants must agree to plan and execute a minimum of three youth-driven gatherings with potential youth and adult network members to build or expand relationships and the network’s action plan. The first convening should occur before April 30, 2020 to build on initial visioning and action planning conducted during the kick-off video chat (March 2) and the in-person retreat in Phoenix (April 6-7). Each intermediary will receive a one-time $1,000 honoraria for serving as host for local convenings.
Storytelling/Resource Sharing: As part of their participation in this project, primary participants must agree to work with the CYD National Coordinator to share stories of success, challenges, ideas, member highlights, and other news or resources to the field at large. Goals for storytelling and resource sharing will be determined in March at the in person retreat. A final share-out (format to be determined) will be presented at the 2020 Conference for Community Arts Education in NYC, Nov. 19–21.
November 19–21, 2020: Participation/Share-Outs at Conference for Community Arts Education
All three networks involved in this project will reconvene in November 2020 at the National Guild’s Conference for Community Arts Education in NYC. Involvement in the conference will include a network meeting and an opportunity to share-out lessons learned from the year with the broader field during the conference program. The conference also includes a full-day National Young Artists Summit, designed and led by a national youth team, on Saturday, Nov. 21. Main conference registration (for 11/19–11/21) and travel reimbursements will be provided for the two representatives of each network (1 youth and 1 adult) to attend the conference (up to $750 reimbursed per person).
