Please join us in celebrating our new name: National Guild for Community Arts Education (formerly the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts). Download press release (PDF).
Founded in 1937, the National Guild is the sole national service organization for community arts education providers. While our name has changed, our vision of a nation where all Americans have access to arts learning opportunities throughout their life spans remains constant. Our dynamic member network of arts education organizations includes community schools of the arts, arts and cultural centers, preparatory programs, and arts education divisions of performing arts companies, museums, parks and recreation departments, and others.
Our more than 400 member organizations collectively serve one million students, employ over 16,000 teaching artists, and reach an additional five million Americans each year through performances and exhibitions in rural, suburban and urban communities across the nation. Their impact on the lives of the students and communities they serve is enduring and profound.
The National Guild believes involvement in the arts is essential to individual fulfillment and community life. We envision a nation where all Americans understand and appreciate the value of the arts in their lives, and in the lives of their communities.
The National Guild for Community Arts Education supports and advances access to lifelong learning opportunities in the arts. We support the creation and development of community arts education organizations and programs by providing research and information resources, professional development and networking opportunities, advocacy, funding, and high-profile leadership.
