The Royal Conservatory Granted Royal Patronage

« Back

May 15, 2012

On May 15, 2012, The Royal Conservatory announced it was granted a Royal Patronage from HRH The Prince of Wales. The announcement was made by Conservatory President Dr. Peter Simon during The 125th Anniversary Royal Occasion, a special event honoring The Royal Conservatory’s 125-year impact on Canadian society. “The Royal Conservatory is extremely proud and grateful to join a select group of organizations reflecting the values and goals of His Royal Highness,” said Dr. Simon.

The Royal Conservatory is also working with Prince’s Charities Canada to expand Learning through the Arts® (LTTA), The Conservatory’s successful arts-based educational intervention program, into the United Kingdom. His Royal Highness met Conservatory representatives, as well as LTTA students and teachers, during an event on May 23 at First Nations University in Regina. In 1947 His Royal Highness’s grandfather George VI granted The Royal Conservatory a Royal Charter in recognition of its excellence in music education and its outstanding contributions to the Canadian music community.
