Jessica Wilt, a friend, colleague, and leader within arts education, passed away on November 12 after a fight with cancer. Beginning her career as a dancer, Jessica worked for over 15 years as an arts education administrator, writer, community manager, and consultant. Jessica chaired the Arts Education Council at Americans for the Arts; served as a volunteer in the NYC’s Arts in Education Roundtable Program Committee; and, in 2013, founded ArtsEdTechNYC, an organization that examines the intersection of arts, education, and technology.
In 2012, Jessica participated in the Guild’s Community Arts Education Leadership Institute (CAELI). She is remembered by the Guild staff as being a warm, generous, and insightful person, as well as a dedicated leader and advocate for the importance of arts education. We offer our thoughts and condolences to Jessica’s family. Tributes and memories can be shared at http://www.rutherfordfuneralhomes.com/obituaries/Jessica-Wilt/.
