Registration is now open for SphinxCon, February 21 - 23, 2013, Detoit, MI. SphinxCon will bring together leaders discussing solutions to the challenges surrounding diversity in the performing arts. SphinxCon sets out to provide its participants with the tools to diversify their communities, transform the arts, challenge themselves, network with leaders, and initiate change. Guild Program Director James Horton is among twenty-four distinguished nonprofit arts leaders presenting this year. Other speakers include Maria López de León, Executive Director, National Association of Latino Arts & Culture; Teresa Eyring, Executive Director, Theatre Communications Group; David C. Howse, Executive Director, Boston Children's Chorus; and others.

This year's featured speakers are Adrian Anantawan, program co-director of Dudamel Orchestra Conductor; Nigel Lythgoe, co-creator/executive producer/judge of "So You Think You Can Dance"; Rip Rapson, president of Kresge Foundation; and Simon Shaheen, international performing artist and Arthur J. Johnson Honoree.

The Sphinx Organization is a national non-profit founded in 1996 by Dr. Aaron P. Dworkin and Carrie A. Chester. Dworkin and Chester founded the organization to help overcome the cultural stereotype of classical music, and to encourage the participation of Blacks and Latinos in the field.
