Northeast Florida Conservatory Receives $40,000 Gift

« Back

Feb 16, 2012
Jacksonville, Florida

The Northeast Florida Conservatory has received a $20,000 grant from the SPANX Sara Blakely Foundation in memory of Conservatory founder, Richard Dickson's, daughter Laura Pooley. The Conservatory received a second $20,000 gift from an anonymous donor.

The Conservatory will use these donations to fund "Laura's Friends," a new program which will provide musical experiences to children, schools and organizations where music is absent or limited, and children are deprived or disenfranchised and have no access to music education and performance. With exceptionally well-qualified instructors, the Conservatory will offer both on- and off-site programs, going directly into schools and churches, that endorse the mission of "Laura's Friends." Students may participate in the program at no cost to the individual, family, or school.

The Northeast Florida Conservatory is pleased to offer this program, honoring the life of Pooley, a third-grade teacher and musician who lived a life of high-energy with an enormous capacity for giving to others and a devotion to music and its ability to provide joy to all persons.
