The Detroit Metro Times reported this month on Mosaic Youth Theatre’s recent tour through New York. Dubbed #MosaicTakesNYC, the Detroit based ensemble, consisting of 14 singers and 14 actors, took a weeklong trip that included performances at Apollo’s famous talent show and Carnegie Hall.

“For Mosaic’s young artists to work with legendary venues like the Apollo Theater and Carnegie Hall will be an experience they will never forget,” said Rick Sperling, founder and artistic director at Mosaic.

Alongside their performances, the students had an opportunity to see Broadway productions, such as “She Loves Me,” “Shuffle Along,” and Shakespeare in the Park. Also, as Sperling notes, one of Mosaic’s alumni, Angela Birchett, made her Broadway debut this month in The Color Purple.
