On May 8, Merit School of Music raised a record breaking $1.8 million at their 35th anniversary gala. The gala was a celebration of more than three decades of making music and building lives through the arts. At the gala, Merit honored internationally recognized soprano, Renee Flemming, with the Alice S. Phaelzer Award for Distinguished Service, in recognition of her ongoing collaborations with the school. Merit also honored JPMorgan Chase with the 2014 Corporate Leadership Award for its continued work with Merit over the course of the school's 35 year history. The event, attended by more than 650 supporters, also included performances by Merit students.
