The board of directors of the Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) announced earlier this month the appointment of Vickie Scott Grove as CSMA's new executive director. Grove took the leadership reins at CSMA on August 5, 2013.

Grove is an experienced senior-level executive with extensive financial, business development and social venture experience.  She is the former executive director of Child Advocates of Silicon Valley. Most recently she was vice president of programs at ALearn, where she was responsible for the development, expansion, and evaluation of supplemental education programs in 12 school districts in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties.

The Community School of Music and Arts has provided group and individual lessons in music, visual art classes and camps, and community performances on its site and arts education programs in Peninsula schools since 1968.  Debra Summers, CSMA Board Chair, says, “As we move into a new and exciting growth phase, Grove’s strong non-profit management and strategic planning skills, breadth of perspective and experience, and proven ability to build collaborations, partnerships and diverse teams will be invaluable to fulfillment of our goals.  We are delighted Vickie is joining CSMA and confident that she will be a great asset to our organization.”

“The arts have always been an important part of my life. It is a great joy for me to be part of the CSMA community,” said Grove. “I look forward to continuing and deepening CSMA’s leadership in making music and arts education accessible for all.”

About the Community School of Music and Arts
Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) at Finn Center is a regional center committed to providing Arts for All, regardless of age, level, background or economic means. Since its founding in 1968, CSMA has grown to be the largest non-profit provider of arts education programs in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties reaching 40,000 people of all ages (pre-school through adults) annually. CSMA’s international faculty of over 100 professional musicians, artists and educators provide on-site and off-site programs in music, visual and new media arts, including: classes, private lessons and camps; arts-in-the-schools (Arts in Action, Music in Action); and concerts, exhibits, lectures and multi-cultural outreach events. In keeping with CSMA’s commitment to accessibility, the school provides financial aid. In 2004, CSMA opened the doors of its permanent home at Finn Center (230 San Antonio Circle, Mountain View), heralding the beginning of a new era for the organization and for the arts and cultural life of Silicon Valley. CSMA is among the top 10 schools of its kind in the nation.
