A documentary film, “The Paterson Music Project,” produced by Chakra Media Group about Wharton Music Center’s El Sistema-inspired program, has been named the recipient of a 2015 Telly Award. This film, winer in the Film/Video Non-Broadcast category, was selected from nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries.

Wharton Music Center Executive Director Karen Deschere said, “Having Chakra Media Group produce our video enabled us to share the Paterson Music Project story in a way we could have never imagined. Working with Genevieve Castelino and Kiran Merchant was a joy from start to finish. Their passion and dedication to the program inspired all who worked on it, and attracted a top-notch production crew we wouldn’t have dreamed possible. The Wharton Music Center’s Paterson Music Project couldn’t be more proud to have Chakra Media Group’s work recognized in this way.”

Genevieve Castelino, one of the directors on the film, said, “We are so very grateful to Karen Deschere and Susan Oldroyd for giving us the opportunity, their trust, and the creative freedom to tell the Paterson Music Project's story. We set out to make a film that was honest and moving. To do that we had to capture the passion, the love, and the incredible commitment that the administrators, teachers, parents and students put into this program. Every member of the Chakra Media Group and Paterson Music Project team brought not just their talents, but their hearts and souls into making this film. Winning the Telly Award is a recognition of all of this.”
The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
