Mark DeGarmo, executive director of Mark DeGarmo & Dancers/Dynamic Forms was honored in Moscow this June at the opening of the "Enchanted Wanderers" exhibit at the Bakhrushin State Central Theatre Museum. Photographs of DeGarmo's work as a dancer and choreographer were featured alongside images of legendary Russian ballet dancers and artists who developed ballet in the West and made significant contributions to world culture. The exhibit included photographs of Diaghilev, Balanchine, Nureyev, Baryshnikov, Briansky, Arova, Princess Grace of Monaco, and others. The exhibit will enter the archives of the Museum this fall.

Mark DeGarmo & Dancers/Dynamic Forms Inc. (MDDF) was founded in 1982. MDDF’s mission and purpose is educating our underserved NYC communities, and especially our children, about the roles of dance and the arts in society; promoting intercultural inquiry and communication; and creating, performing, and disseminating original dances and artistic and scholarly work. MDDF has produced 100 dances and 25 international tours involving performance, teaching, research, and exchange in 12 countries, including Latin America, Europe, and Russia. Since 1991, we have partnered with 25 NYC schools through yearlong, ongoing programs, and worked with public students and communities underserved in the arts.  We have worked on the Lower East Side for 28 years, and have been a resident member organization of the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural & Educational Center since 2001. We annually teach over 1,400 PreK-5 public school students and serve over 12,000 individuals in NYC. Over the last 4 years, we taught 3,031 workshops in 177 classrooms in 7 schools; we have maintained relationships with partnership schools for 8 consecutive years; staff members have 150 cumulative years of experience in the arts and arts education; and founder Mark DeGarmo served as consultant to the NYC DOE’s Task Force to develop the Arts Blueprint, serving 1.1 million students in 1,500 public schools. Mark DeGarmo is a dancer/choreographer who has created dance/theater works with national and international support based on contemporary social issues in Ecuador (U.S. State Department), El Salvador (U.S. Embassy), and Peru (Fulbright).
