Chicago, IL

The Mayor’s Office and Chicago Public Schools (CPS) announced Friday, February 7, that The Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts) will transition into its permanent home at 2714 W. Augusta Blvd. for the start of the 2014-2015 school year.

Located in the Ukrainian Village/Humboldt Park neighborhood in Chicago’s West Town, ChiArts’ new home will provide the school’s nearly 600 diverse students with the necessary space to reach their academic and artistic potential through a unique curriculum that pairs pre-professional training in the arts with rigorous college preparatory studies.

“We’re happy to share this exciting news with our community of supporters as we know that this new location will be monumental in providing our students with the best education possible,” said José Ochoa, ChiArts executive and artistic director and a Guild trustee. “We have been hopeful for a definite announcement of a permanent home since before our doors [opened] in 2009. ChiArts looks forward to joining another one of Chicago’s culturally diverse neighborhoods and plans to work closely with local businesses and community arts organizations in West Town, Ukrainian Village and Humboldt Park in order to further the mission of the school.”
