Carnegie Hall has announced the opening of applications for three of the country’s top youth ensembles—NYO Jazz, NYO2, and NYO-USA. According to Carnegie Hall, “Members make music at the highest level alongside talented peers and work closely with today’s leading professional artists. These free training programs culminate with concerts at Carnegie Hall and other world-class venues.”

NYO Jazz

New in the summer of 2018, NYO Jazz will bring together musicians ages 16-19. Trumpet player Sean Jones will be the soloist and bandleader for NYO Jazz’s Carnegie Hall debut and European tour. Learn more and apply.


Designed for outstanding young American instrumentalists, particularly those from underrepresented communities in the classical orchestra field, NYO2 recruits students ages 14-17. Learn more and apply.


The brightest group of young musicians, ages 16-19. Selected participants work with leading professional orchestra players in a three-week training residency before a Carnegie Hall concert and tour to Asia with conductor Michael Tilson Thomas and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Learn more and apply.
