Chicago, IL

Merit School of Music announced earlier this month that Executive Director Tom Bracy has accepted the newly-created position of director of education programs within the division of education at Elkhart, Ind.-based Conn-Selmer Inc., the leading manufacturer and distributor of musical instruments for student, amateur and professional use and subsidiary of Steinway Musical Instruments, Inc. Bracy's last day at Merit School of Music was March 1, 2015.

In his 13-year tenure with the community music school, Bracy worked to advance nearly every department. Over the years, he held roles as faculty member, director of operations, acting director of development, director of human resources and chief operating officer.

As director of educational programs at Elkhart, Bracy will collaborate with key division staff to develop, administer and communicate the vision and strategies that support educational programs, including the VIP and Conn-Selmer Institute Programs.  These initiatives assist the music education community with the demands and challenges placed upon them on a daily basis. Under Bracy’s leadership, his team will work to continue to build and cultivate relationships with key educational influencers, including music administrators, band directors, and educational policy advisors.

Bracy says his new position with Conn-Selmer will only enhance his outreach in the music community. Residing in both Elkhart and Chicago, he will continue to operate his consulting firm, Bracy Group, Inc., specializing in organizational development and marketing. Using his nearly 30 years’ experience, he assists local non-profit organizations in increasing awareness, efficiency and effectiveness. As part of his consultant role, Bracy conducts specialized workshops for individuals and groups on career development, personal branding, social media and relationship marketing.
