Nov 15, 2011

The National Guild for Community Arts Education has announced the renewal of MetLife Foundation Creative Aging Program (CAP) for 2012.  CAP was launched in 2009 in response to a major demographic shift underway int he United States - the number of adults age 65 and above will double by 2050 - and recent research demonstrating that sustained participation in professionally-led arts programs can promote health and prevent disease in older adults.  The goals of CAP are to:

  • increase the capacity of nonprofit community arts education providers to serve older adults;
  • expand and/or deepen existing creative aging programs of high quality; and
  • identify exemplary creative aging programs as models for hte field.

Full members of the National Guild may request a grant of up to $10,000.  The application deadline is December 16, 2011.  The Guild will host an informational conference call for prospective applicants on December 2, 2011.

To download the application guidelines, rsvp for the conference call, or learn more, visit the programs section.
