Join us Friday, April 12, at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, IL for Left Brain/Right Brain - One Brain/Whole Brain with Don Marinelli, co-founder of Carnegie Mellon University's world-renowned Entertainment Technology Center and a former professor of drama and arts management at CMU. Don's presentation is part of a full day agenda that includes the 2013 Conference Program Planning Meeting. You are welcome to attend one or both of these events.

Left Brain/Right Brain - One Brain/Whole Brain
Creativity and innovation require "whole brain thinking," the use of both left brain logic and right brain imagination. For too long, society has emphasized the distinctiveness of left and right lobe brain functions, so much so that we have lost the reality of how the brain works as a whole. We know scientifically that the left side of the brain controls our language, fine motor skills, and positive emotions; while the right side of the brain controls negative emotions, and abstract things such as shapes and metaphors. Both lobes control sensation, pain, and sound.

Don will illustrate how the arts play a key role in developing minds by activating both sides of the brain. He'll also provide insights and practical strategies for how you can foster "whole brain thinking" at your organization.
