The National Guild joins other leading national associations as a founding partner of SphinxCon! Empowering Ideas for Diversity in the Arts, to be presented by The Sphinx Organization during Sphinx Finals (Feb 14-17, 2013) in Detroit, MI.  The initiative will bring together leaders from all disciplines of the performing arts to share ideas, challenges, successes, and lessons learned in the pursuit of increased diversity in all aspects of the performing arts sector. National Guild Executive Director Jonathan Herman will present, “We Are What We Art,” a talk on increasing equitable access to arts learning opportunities.

The Sphinx Organization created SphinxCon to convene a critical mass of performing arts leaders and practitioners on the topic of diversity and create a space for discussion and sharing. The conference will follow a TED Talk-style format, featuring 15 minute speeches/multimedia presentations from inspirational leaders in business, academia, and the arts. There will also be ample networking opportunities to encourage creative, out-of-the-box thinking. Additional founding partners include Americans for the Arts, National Association of Latino Arts & Culture, Theatre Communications Group, League of American Orchestras, National Performance Network, and others.
