What are you doing to celebrate "Arts in Educatoin Week"?

We're sending our Marketing & Communications Director, Heather Ikemire, down to Chattanooga, TN for the Arts Education Partnership's National Forum, Learning without Borders. In Chattanooga Heather will share ideas with colleagues from across the country and, as AEP puts it, discuss "the increasingly critical role for the arts to unleash new ways of thinking, working, and learning in America's classrooms and society."

How can you get involved?

This is a great opportunity to sound off about what arts in education means to you and your community. Talk with your friends and colleagues about the role the arts play in your life and the life of your family. Let your local representatives know that you support increased funding for the National Endowment for the Arts. And join the conversation happening live on our social networks. Visit our twitter and facebook pages and share stories and quotes about the importance of access to arts education for all Americans!

About Arts in Education Week:

In July 2010 the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution designating the second week of September as "Arts in Education Week."

The resolution (H.Con.Res 275) states: ...Arts education, comprising a rich array of disciplines including dance, music, theatre, media arts, literature, design, and visual arts, is a core academic subject and an essential element of a complete and balanced education for all students.
