Oct 25, 2011

The National Council on the Arts, the advisory body for the National Endowment for the Arts, will convene in a public session on Friday, October 28, 2011, from 9:00AM-11:00AM.  The meeting will take place in room M-09 of the Nancy Hanks Center, 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC.  The event is free and open to the public to attend in person or to watch live via webscast.

This meeting will feature three presentations in addition to the business of the council.  These presentations include the swearing in of Aaron Dworkin, President Obama's first nominee and president of Guild member organization, the Sphinx Organization; a panel discussion on opera with Speight Jenkins, general director of the Seattle Opera, Beth Morrison of Beth Morrison Projects, and Marc Scorca, president of Guild member organization OPERA America; and a discussion of the agency's latest research note, Artists and Arts Workers in the United States. These will be followed by a conversation about arts festivals.

The application and guidelines review and voting will also take place at this meeting. If you wish to attend, please contact Victoria Hutter by October 26, 2011.
