On Wednesday, September 24, at 3:00PM ET, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) will host an arts education webinar featuring Rich Harwood, a leading authority on public innovation, who will discuss how to authentically engage local communities in collective impact. This webinar is part of a series on collective impact organized by the NEA's Arts Education office.

In an article in the Stanford Social Innovation Review, Harwood wrote, "[N]o matter how many leaders and organizations join an effort or how well thought-out and rigorous their plan, it is simply not possible to impose a strategy on a community. To be successful, they need to work with the community." With a focus on how this concept can be applied to arts education collective impact projects, Harwood will discuss how to put community in collective impact, how to create the underlying conditions in a community that need to be present for change to occur, and how the community can change how it works together. NEA Director of Arts Education Ayanna Hudson will moderate the discussion with Harwood, which will include a Q&A with the public.

The webinar is free and open to the public. Register
