LA Phil Announces the 2014 Take a Stand Symposium

The LA Phil has announced their 2014 Take a Stand Symposium will take place February 20-22 in Los Angeles, CA. This year's Symposium will explore the question, "How can we empower students to take control of their futures?" The Symposium will explore how we can best draw forth and nurture student leadership and citizenship. Attendees will:

  • Learn from El Sistema programs around the world who are approaching similar challenges with elementary, middle, and high school students in creative ways
  • Engage in interactive classes, keynote lectures, labs and discussion groups on different aspects student empowerment. 
  • Perform music with members of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, Symposium attendees, and students from U.S. El Sistema-influenced programs in a side-by-side open rehearsal. 
  • Experience Gustavo Dudamel’s Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela and the Los Angeles Philharmonic throughout the LA Phil’s Tchaikovsky Festival. 

Registration will open in October but the LA Phil is curently accepting session proposals.
