The National Guild believes involvement in the arts is essential to individual fulfillment and community life. We envision a nation where all Americans understand and appreciate the value of the arts in their lives and in the lives of their communities. National Arts in Education week, taking place September 13-19, is a national celebration recognizing the arts’ importance to a well-rounded education. Created by Congress in 2010 with the passage of House Resolution 275, Arts Ed Week is designed to bring national attention to the need for comprehensive arts education programs that are available to all.

Americans for the Arts recommends three ways to get involved during Arts Education Week:

  • Host or attend a celebration. Thousands of arts education organizations across the country will be using this opportunity to celebrate successes, convene with partners, and plan for the future.
  • Advocate to decision makers. Speaking with your local city, state, or federal officials can be an important step to making arts education a piece of the policy agenda.
  • Bring attention to the cause. Use social media, #artsedweek, or other online channels to tell the world why you support strong arts education.
