Jul 28, 2011

Last night, during consideration of the House Appropriations Interior funding bill, a bill already containing a $20 million cut to the NEA (the largest cut in 16 years), Rep. Tim Walberg proposed an amendment to cut an additional $10.6 million.  Interior Subcommittee Chairman Mike Simpson (ID) and Reps. Jim Moran (VA), David Cicilline (RI), Lynn Woolsey (CA), John Yarmuth (KY), Rush Holt (NJ), Bobby Scott (VA), and Betty McCollum (MN) all urged defeat of the amendment, coming out strong for the NEA. However, the final vote on the amendment won't happen until later today.  The exact time of the vote is undecided.  Take action now! Tell your House representative to oppose the Walberg amendment.
