Doug Borwick, President of the Board of the Association of Arts Administration Educators, has launched a new blog, "Engaging Matters." The premise of the blog: "The Arts have incredible, but insufficiently utlitzed, power to improve people's lives..."  Here, Borwick will discuss ways artists, arts organizations, arts educators, and arts administrators can create ever more productive partnerships with the communities they serve.

"Engaging Matters will address the why, what, and how of community engagement for both sides of the equation - arts and the community - with an emphasis on those of us who live and work in the arts world."

Topics discussed so far include:

  • Under recognized value and insufficiently tapped potential in the arts
  • The disconnect between arts organizations and their communities
  • The eightfold path to community engagement
