Jun 24, 2011

On June 24th, a group of dutch artists called upon supporters of the arts throughout the world to express the value of culture through an international performance piece entitled "Artbomb."  They asked artists and arts supporters to "ignite colored smoke and document it" at an arts or cultural organization.  According to the press release "The visual act will be a sign of resistance against the growing disdain for the arts within societies and governments worldwide, and a sign of support for colleagues who face major cutbacks."  Thousands of artists heeded the call, videos and pictures of protests can be viewed on the Artbomb website.
