Chance the Rapper Launches CPS Arts Education Fund

Chance the Rapper, a Grammy Award-winning hip-hop artist from Chicago, has recently announced that he is a creating a fund specifically for arts education in the Chicago Public School District. Called the New Chance Arts & Literature Fund, the program will provide arts learning and materials to schools that have experienced budget cuts or are otherwise under-resourced.

"As an artist and after-school teacher, I know the arts are essential. They teach students valuable lessons," Chance said at a recent press conference.

According to A Plus, “The 23-year-old rapper has pledged to raise $215 million for the school system, including an initial $1 million of his own money…The campaign has raised more than $2.2 million with a $1 million investment from the Chicago Bulls basketball team announced at the same press conference Friday.”
