The US Department of Arts and Culture (USDAC) is the nation's newest people-powered department, founded on the truth that art and culture are our most powerful and under-tapped resources for social change. Radically inclusive, useful and sustainable, and vibrantly playful, the USDAC aims to spark a grassroots, creative change movement, engaging millions in performing and creating a world rooted in empathy, equity, and social imagination.

The USDAC is now recruiting 12 founding Cultural Agents—deeply creative individuals committed to social change—to begin to perform the USDAC at a local level.  Drawn from communities across the country, Cultural Agents will form a tight solidarity and learning network, go through a short online training course, and help co-create and host local "Imaginings"—vibrant, arts-infused gatherings in which a community envisions its ideal future and identifies creative ways to get there. While each Cultural Agent organizes in his/her own community, this first cohort will work together to help spark a larger national conversation around cultivating the empathy and imagination we need to create a future we wish to inhabit.
