AEPR Calls for Research on Equitable Access to Arts Education

Arts Education Policy Review is calling for submissions for a special focus issue, entitled “Equitable Access to Arts Education in School and Community Programs.”  The publication – which presents discussion of major policy issues in arts education in the United States and throughout the world – is looking for a wide variety of articles that approach questions of access from the perspective of policy makers, educators, and administrators. The deadline for submission for this special issue is September 15, 2015.

Articles that will be considered for publication should relate to any of the following topics:

  • Analysis of policy in relation to access to education in dance, music,
  • theater and visual arts in school and community settings
  • Descriptions of innovative arts programs with a focus on equitable access
  • Discussions of education policy with regard to P-12 arts educator quality and
  • student access to certified arts educators
  • Examinations of national, state and local policies for high school graduation and
  • college admission and their impact on education in the arts
  • Equitable access in relation to arts teacher preparation in higher education
